Job Summary

An exciting opportunity exists in our Oil & Gas and Power division, based in Calgary, Alberta, for a Lead, IT Operations Infrastructure. This position will administer the daily operation of Sherritt’s IT operating environment, including new and established IT systems and services, ensuring their security and availability to meet business needs.

Accountabilities

Lead and execute on projects that supports the continuous improvement of the IT operating environment

Monitor and maintain high availability of IT infrastructure services such as virtualization, hyper-converged hardware and software, operating systems, email systems and Microsoft Active directory

Provide level 1 support for voice systems, local, wide-area and wireless networks

Perform regular maintenance and patching of IT operations hardware, operating systems and software

Develop and maintain system documentation, operating procedures and inventory

Participate in the review of technical roadmaps, life-cycle plans, and goals development

Perform regular backups and restoration of company data in accordance to established policies

Provide technical mentorship to the IT services teams across the Sherritt sites

Enforce, review and audit proper access controls as required

Work closely with the IT Services and Enterprise Solutions teams to support Global IT priorities

Qualifications and Skills

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science (or equivalent)

5+ years of related experience

Strong technical knowledge of:
Current network hardware, protocols, and standards

Virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Nutanix AHV

Hyper-convergence solutions such as Nutanix

Sound Microsoft experience in Azure, Active Directory, file services, and Office 365

Sound knowledge of backup platforms and technologies

Technical administration of cloud infrastructure

Strong experience in IT infrastructure capacity management

Scripting such as PowerShell, Python, or Linux shell

Sound knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

Troubleshooting software and hardware issues

Ability to document configuration and processes

Excellent time management skills
